EPISODE 1: THE WHARF
Ok so the Wharf in Pass-A-Grille is where this all began. Kathy drove me a doctor's appointment for my foot, and I offered to take her to lunch to say thanks. Since we were in a semi-hurry, and we both live nearby-ish, we decided on the Wharf, and sat down at the bar facing the intracoastal to watch the dead fish float by (the forsaken red tide was still in full effect).
Our lovely bartender whipped up a couple margaritas which we eagerly sucked down in the heat of the afternoon. Now, the Wharf is an un-assuming place. One might expect un-assuming margaritas at such a place. WRONG.
BUT- you know how it is with tequila, one minute you're sober, the next you're talking at the speed of an auctioneer, and the next, you're crunk. So in the 'auctioneer' zone, we ordered another round. It's all somewhat of a haze after the second round, but sometime before we stumbled out of the bar, blinking into the bright sunlight, we came up with the idea of doing this here blog.
Not only that, we managed to meet three crusty characters, whom we later realized may have been the human forms of Sponge Bob, Patrick, and Mr. Crabbs.
Sponge Bob, a giant huggable mollusk of a man, generously offered to hook me up with a deal on a paddleboard from his shop. Sweet! Patrick was a friendly chap who projected sea-soaked friendliness from his barstool, which he remained firmly attached to like a barnacle. Mr. Crabbs, a distinguished fellow with a real mustache, made a point to approach our drunken orbit and advise us on the safety of the crustaceans on the menu. He was very 'pro-crustacean'- which is a political affiliation I do not subscribe to (I hate seafood). However he was quite passionate and therefore, succeeded in convincing Kathy to sample the fried crab sandwich, which I believe she was happy with.
This guy!
In summary...the Wharf on Pass A Grille makes a MEAN ASS MARGARITA.
We give this place FIVE LIMES.
Why:
-the margaritas were strong as hell (ps we went with Patron, not the house tequila...I think...I don't remember very well to be perfectly honest)
-they were fairly priced
-we loved the great casual vibe of the place
-and of course, the cast of Sponge Bob Square Pants really made our day!
